Somehow I don't feel like posting at art communities anymore :no:
I have recently opened a poll about what is more important:
doing personnal art / art exersises / portfolio / commissions...?
And you know what? I don't care about what people think.
You can not go on without drawing something
personnal that allows you to feel creative.
The drawing will just die out of your mind
and you'll stick to something else.

But you don't want to be doing that. And you don't want me doing that, because I won't be able to put my creativity into commissions anymore either.
Of course I'll keep working on commissions duh I need them done. -_-
I just hate to feel bad about those, but you may as well not mind me.

Art is nothing but being so personnal. And I just need to find that thing back.

Yeah, sorry. I'm just tired and stressed because of the pre-graduation period, and I can't even relax by drawing something useless, and my PC is dead of course, my new wacom is resting unused...so I just end up doing something else instead.
Oh, the misery.
I'll go think it over and come back with something mroe intellingent to say.

hah, I had those kind of thoughts some time ago. But then marked everything as "important" and just made a list to what do first, but surely all of those had to be done xD
On the other hand, I have the ability to stop thinking about personal art when I don't have time and then I am just creative with everything else but going back to personal becomes kind of hard.

and um... make a website, please? xD People do not comment under pictures there but there are still pictures to be seen!

But I think you should just relax, have some fun and generally don't think about upsetting or annoying things.

You know, in between every commission I do a piece of personal art or two. It keeps fluid, happy, and relaxed, and makes me feel less like I'm trapped doing work. :) Personal art is BY FAR more important than commissions to the artist and the perpetuation of art, Moony -- commissions are a patron's recognition of talent and potential. So they're nice, but they can also wait.

Commissions in the olden days would sometimes take years to complete -- not that you should maybe wait for years to finish them, but the idea is to continue working on personal art at whatever pace suits you.

Don't you worry about feeling selfish if you complete some personal art and post it up here, no one's going to call you on it or claim you're irresponsible. You're the artist, dammit! :heart: You're allowed!

ça va de soi qu'il faut avant tout faire ce que tu veux, pas ce que les gens te conseillent. tout en écoutant ce que disent les gens tu fais ce que tu veux et si t'as pas envie d'entendre leur opinion - t'as qu'à pas la leur demander! je vois pas où est le problème...

Grah, I know what you feel like. Its why I tend to go through phases where I feel like doing them, and not. It seems rare to get a commission that I thoroughly enjoy, and most of those that I have enjoyed I was allowed a looot of artistic freedom. I don't know what it is, but doing them sometimes shackles you. x_x

Mais non je parles du fait de faire des commandes, pour des sous-sous, tu sais. Au bout d'un moment j'en peux plus, j'ai besoin de dessiner juste pour le fun, ou plutôt pour l'expression personnelle. Mais bon les gens ils attendent, quoi.
